The Plot Thicket on the Bachmann Estate

Gig Harbor, WA

Out-of-Town Guests

We have set aside a large number of hotel rooms at the Inn at Gig Harbor with the special rate of $120 for standard rooms, $140 for suites. Please mention our names when you book your room. The Heritage Restaurant and a small day spa are onsite.

The hotel is a 5 minute drive from downtown Gig Harbor, where you can walk along the marina, watch the boats go by, and visit boutiques, coffee shops & cafes. The Smithsonian recently named Gig Harbor the 5th Best Small Town in America!

Having everyone stay in one hotel will make traveling to and from the wedding venue easier. However, if you prefer other accommodations, let us know and we'll be happy to provide a list of alternate lodging.

Travel Information

Fly into SeaTac International Airport. Once you arrive, there will be two transportation options:

1. Rent a car and drive to Gig Harbor, approximately 45 minutes south of the airport. For guests planning a longer vacation around the wedding and/or spending time in Seattle, this would be your best option.

2. The Kitsap Airporter is an inexpensive shuttle that will take you from the airport to the Inn at Gig Harbor. For sightseeing or necessary travel within Gig Harbor, the hotel has an Enterprise rent-a-car station onsite.

Transportation to the Wedding

We plan to have a bus pick up all hotel guests from the Inn at Gig Harbor. It will arrive at 12:15 pm and leave promptly at 12:30 pm. Please don't be late. If you miss it, there will be no other ride. The bus will get you to the venue at 1pm.

In the evening, the bus will provide rides back to the Inn at Gig Harbor at 7 pm and 10 pm.

Wardrobe

Please come dressed in your vintage best. If our save-the-date paper dolls gave you any clue, we ask that you raid your own/parents'/grandparents' closets and show us some nostalgic flair. Focus on 20's-60's old-Hollywood glamour. Men, think fedoras, bowlers, seersucker suits, suspenders, skinny ties and bow ties. Women, think fancy cocktail dresses, estate jewelry, gloves and fascinators.

We truly hope you'll indulge us and embrace our playful request, but if all else fails, a fun vintage hat will do.

Note: the lawn will be uneven and rustic, so ladies, please avoid high or spike heels. Low wedges, thick heels, or flats are strongly advised.

Washington weather in early September is usually our best. We hope and plan for sunshine and temperatures in the 70s to 80s. However, please bring a jacket, sweater or cover-up if we aren't so fortunate. Evenings will be cooler when the sun goes down.

Refreshments

There will be snacks and drinks available throughout the day, with a more formal al fresco sit-down buffet dinner in the late afternoon. The meal will be provided by Skillet, Seattle's infamous food truck. They will cook up gourmet local and sustainable grown-up comfort food out of their vintage Airstream trailer. Both carnivores and vegetarians will be happy!
